Autumn has come and Charlie Lager is back in Stockholm after the dramatic investigation into Annabelle’s disappearance in Gullspång.
The media are reporting on a spate of suicides by young people. Three students have taken their own lives within weeks of each other. Questions are raised about the nature of the deaths and NOD, the National Operations Department, is called in. Charlie and her colleague Anders Bratt shuttle back and forth between the deep forests of Värmland and Stockholm’s high end suburbs to find out what is going on. They soon realise this case is much more complicated than they could ever have imagined at first glance.
At the same time, something from Charlie’s past is refusing to leave her alone.
